About Kriya Yoga

The Sanskrit root of kriya is kri, to do, to act and react; the same root is found in the word karma, the natural principle of cause and effect. Kriya Yoga is thus "union (yoga) with the Infinite through a certain action or rite (kriya)." A yogi who faithfully practices the technique is gradually freed from karma or the lawful chain of cause-effect equilibriums.

Kriya is an ancient science. Lahiri Mahasaya received it from his great guru, Babaji, who rediscovered and clarified the technique after it had been lost in the Dark Ages. Babaji renamed it, simply, Kriya Yoga.

"The Kriya Yoga that I am giving to the world through you in this nineteenth century," Babaji told Lahiri Mahasaya, "is a revival of the same science that Krishna gave millenniums ago to Arjuna; and that was later known to Patanjali and Christ, and to St. John, St. Paul, and other disciples."

Is Kriya Yoga the right path for me?

Courage

We must be courageous, as blockages are rapidly removed, many difficult things come up from within us which we have been afraid to face for possibly lifetimes. Willingness to confront what comes is essential. Remember: God does not give us more than we can handle.

Willingness for Change

We know this practice isn't for everyone, and that is why it is so special. One must have an open mind and strong willingness for deep transformation to consistently engage in Kriya Yoga and allow it to unfold their life. Many take one class and say "that was very intense" and never come back. If you have a burning desire to remove that which is keeping you from embodying your true self, and are willing to push yourself to the limits for spiritual liberation, then this practice is for you.

Devotion

Kriya Yoga is best for those who are highly devoted. Traditionally, this practice was only transferred from Guru to Disciple once they have proven their devotion. Here it is offered freely, as we are in the Kali Yuga (Dark Age in Vedic Calendar), where humanity is at its highest corruption. Even if discipline is little, the mind is scattered with desires and self-defeating habits, if you stick with this practice, it will transform you effortlessly. That is the power of this Yogic Technology. Membership is for those who are devoted to at least weekly (ideally daily) practice and sadhana.
